September 29 Cruising At Sea, music, relaxation, bingo and so much more!!

September 29 At Sea, Pacific Ocean

A bit of a sleep in day at sea; the ocean was a little choppy through the night. Up to the track for a couple of miles, a little bike ride (we are biking the Pacific you know), and then a bite of breakfast from the ‘healthy snack’ place poolside.

Returned to the room to change shoes, and then I was off to a ‘Johnnie Walker’ tasting. I’m not much of a Scotch drinker, but thought it might be a good way to try to understand what the TNT / Guitar group finds so great about scotch! After several mini-samples, I still don’t quite get the fascination with this beverage, but all the other folks at the tasting thought it was marvellous. Way to go Johnnie Walker!!

I was a little buzzed by this time, so picked up Sharon and we went to the Persian Garden Spa, where we relaxed in the tranquil spa, resting on our heated lounges with gentle background music. After half an hour we were ready to go. We returned to the room to clean up, gearing up for the rest of the day.

Sharon and I went to the Matinee Show featuring Nikki Bennett who did a tribute to Helen Reddy, her life story and her best songs. It was so magical we could have stayed there for hours!! It was like being at a Helen Reddy Concert! This woman looks like her, sings like her, and has written Helen Reddy’s life story so knows her so well. It was sheer joy for us to enjoy her songs and her presentation! Would go again if the opportunity presents itself!! Delightful!!

Well, the next ‘at Sea’ activity was BINGO (I know this sounds like ‘old people’ activities, and it kind of is...the only time I play BINGO is on a cruise ship, and I have been known to be lucky, just saying.). So off I went, and as luck would have it I won the second game for $275 US!! And so it goes. Will I be at the next sea day BINGO? Oh Yes!!

And now it’s time for dinner, yet another meal on board! We ate at the BLU Restaurant, the exclusive restaurant for ‘Aqua Class’. The food is delicious, the presentation magnificent!!

Topped off the evening with the Celebrity Showtime in the theatre, ‘Broadway Cabaret’, songs from a variety of broadway musicals, across a number of years. It was entertaining, good songs, presented well.

At this point we are exhausted and headed to the room to crash. We read a bit; I did the blog for today, and we had an early night! Another glorious day at sea. Tomorrow we spend 12 hours in Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia. We haven’t booked an organized tour; thinking we will walk off the ship and see where that adventure takes us!

Until tomorrow, that’s a wrap on the last sea day (until October 2!). Ciao for now...more to come...Carol on the go!
