October 19 Airlie Beach, Australia

Airlie Beach, beautiful sandy beach, lagoon, open air market, a local beer!

October 19 Airlie Beach, Australia

The ship docked for the day at Airlie Beach, Australia. We were off the ship and spent much of the day walking around the beautiful beach area.

There was an open air market with local artisans, so of course we had to shop and support the local economy!!

There were some local musicians here too.

The area is very lush.

And there are lots of places for children and families to play.

And it was hot so we had to stop for a beach beverage!

Back on the ship we enjoyed a fun game of lawn bowling on the top deck where there is a large area with real grass. So incredible to walk barefoot on real grass on top of a massive ship!! And Terry won the game!!

We watched the sun go down, it looked like millions of tiny stars dancing on the water.

And then we put on a birthday party for a fellow we met the first day on this cruise. His name is Douglas Crosby, lives in Sydney, traveling alone. He told us he was celebrating his 92nd birthday on the cruise. It was today, so we organized a party for him at the martini bar! There was a cake, balloons and a card which everyone signed. The bartenders made a special martini flight , pouring 12 mini martinis at the same time! Doug was so overwhelmed, tears ran down his face and he had such a good time! So fun!

We missed dinner, just partied the night away and then crashed in our room! A great time was had by all and that’s a wrap! More to come, Carol on the go!
